Illustration Friday: Liquid

It's that time again!

For this week's topic I started doodling some water splashes in photoshop and it eventually evolved into a fish. I've been studying Korean lately (I'm half Korean but never fully learned the language), so the Korean word for 'fish' or '물고기' (mulgogi) came to mind, which literally means water (mul/물) meat (gogi/고기), which I find pretty amusing. I thought this might make a nice book/cd cover or something, so I added my name at the bottom as the author.

What's this, updates?

Yikes, it's been a while since I updated, and unless you follow me on tumblr, dA, or the facebooks you might be in the dark, so here's some (semi) recent work:

 Oooh, a shiny tiger.

A made up book cover for my portfolio. I've been toying with a bit more of graphic, retro style recently. I kinda dig it. But what's with that funny name? (hint: it's an anagram.)

This one was a lot of fun to do. I LOVE night scenes, and I also have a ridiculous obsession with string lights/lanterns, so sort of a win-win here. Besides, ramen is awesome.
And as a little bonus a process gif! A bit too much of a jump between the first two frames, but oh well.

Illustration Friday: 'Storm'

A little somethin' somethin' for Illustration Friday, which I've neglected for a while. The theme is 'storm'.

Giants Under the Sun

Messin' around with some more environments...

Admittedly this one is pretty Roger Dean-inspired.

Here's the process-  as you can kind of see I just sort of made it up and changed things as I went along.

Journey to the Edge of the World - with process!

A recent illustration - mostly experimenting with colored lines and backgrounds.

Process GIF! Usually I'll draw the line art first but sometimes it's fun to go backwards.
