Some new (and not so new) art, and the Pokemonathon

I realize I've neglected this blog quite a bit in favor of DA and Tumblr (hey, it's rough keeping all these things up  to date) so here's a little look at what I've done in the last few months.

First off, I've been participating in a little illustration challenge which is the Pokemonathon over on Tumblr. I thought it'd be fun to do in my free time. And If you think my idea of fun just sounds like a lot of extra work, well, you're probably right. Here's the first 9:

the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Exhibition

Last week I had the tremendous opportunity to fly to New York City to see the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Exhibition! This year saw a mind-blowing 8,119 entries, with only 249 accepted, so I was very honored and excited to have been one of those who got in.

It was a wonderful privilege getting to meet other artists and checking out some really amazing work!

New- Griffin

Workin on a new drawing:

The background isn't quite finished yet. I feel like it's been forever since I've done any fantasy type work, so I thought I'd go back to my roots a little with one of my favorite mythological creatures.


It's somewhat based off a piece I did a few years ago:

 

Mostly because I always wanted to go back and do a more interesting background for this but never got around to it.  My style has evolved a lot since then, so I guess I've ended up re-imagining it instead.

My seven year long journey though art school is finally coming to an end...

 ...and now I've decided to start a blog! Let it mark the start of my professional career. I will be updating here on the progress and process of my art from here on out. Updates coming soon!
